Résumé

La production « maigre » ou « lean production » est une première étape visée par les laboratoires conscients désormais que les nombreuses sources de gaspillages que I'on retrouve dans les chaines logistiques de I'industrie pharmaceutique doivent être éradiquées. La deuxième étape, en I'occurrence I'introduction d'un accord baptisé Inventory Management Agreement (IMA), annonce Ie début d'une nouvelle ère dans la chaine logistique des médicaments. On est certes encore très loin d'une généralisation de cette pratique, comme de celle du supply chain management, au sein de la chaîne d'approvisionnement du médicament, mais cet accord, passé aux États-Unis entre les laboratoires pharmaceutiques et les grossistes répartiteurs qui pendant des décennies se sont occupés de la coordination des flux de médicaments au sein de la chaîne logistique pharmaceutique, doit permettre à ces derniers de laisser de côté les stratégies spéculatives au profit de pratiques permettant de diminuer Ie niveau des stocks tout au long de la chaîne d'approvisionnement de médicaments. Les transformations que souhaitent impulser les laboratoires interrogent pleinement I'existence des grossistes répartiteurs qui, pour ne pas être considérés comme un obstacle à une gestion optimale de la supply chain et ainsi maintenir leur présence au sein de la chaîne logistique du médicament, sont contraints d'introduire dans leur démarche de gestion des pratiques de supply chain management.
